THE ARTIST SPEAKS
I developed a limited number of digital illustrations from frames extracted from 'El sonido del silencio', a video performance produced between February and March 2015, filmed at the foot of a lake near the forests west of Guayaquil.
I usually tend to create new art from a production I've greatly enjoyed, and I was very pleased with the result I obtained with 'El sonido del silencio'. Beyond the video's aesthetics, the energy transmitted during its execution is the key that led me to delve deeper into the concept of this artpiece, resulting in a series of 11 illustrations derived from frames, treated as expressionist illustrations applying a wide variety of filters.
'Aqua' was born precisely from this process, showing the element of water as a living body, in motion, expanding reflectively, moving transdimensionally, silently mutating.
'The Sound of Silence' premiered on March 21, 2015 at the third edition of the performance event ALMANAQUE DE CUERPOS, which took place at the Nahim Isaías Museum in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
